Theodore was a passionate and courageous photographer who risked his life to document the 1961 Freedom Riders in one of the most tumultuous 48 hours in U.S. civil rights history. The descendant of enslaved people on a South Carolina plantation Theordore grew up i the nation's capital and became of the the first African Americans to take photos inside the White House and for the Washington Post. He lived a long life, which the coronavirus claimed at 92.
